  1. I'm a + handicap golfer who uses a SLDR with a 757 speeder x flex with 1/2 inch off. - 9.5 degrees closed. Think its a 65 gram shaft. Had it fitted a year ago. Clubhead speed is consistently 103, pitching at 255 yards - with a consistent smash factor of 149 - 150. What can I do to get more length from my equipment without compromising on accuracy? Or is it sadly all about me and fitness/technique?? Every search Ed.

    Hi Edward,

    Thanks for the post.

The most important thing to consider when looking to gain distance with the driver is make sure you have optimized your launch conditions (initial launch and spin). There two factors, when optimal, will ensure you are taking full advantage of your ball speed. For a player like yourself with about 150 ball speed, you would be looking for an optimal launch angle between 10 - 13 degrees and a spin rate between 2200 - 2800. Keep in mind that it is also important to like the "look" of the flight. Some people prefer to see it lower, while others prefer to see it higher. Make sure you find the right combination for you.

In summation, if you are hitting it solid and your launch conditions are optimal, then the best way to increase distance would be to work on strength, flexibility and swing mechanics.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Bubba - thanks for that - I'm at 12 and 2500, so it seems it's off the the gym - boring!!

Try doing stretching, a lot of core work, glutes and legs.  I did some basic stretching and gained 3 mph and now avg ~112, I had a buddy do Bikram yoga 3x a week this past winter and he gained 8mph on his swing speed.  I thought about Bikram, but I dunno how bad I want to be embarrassed.
