To make a putt in golf, you’ve got to match up a read with a speed. Speed is dependent on the quality of contact on the putter face, particularly how far north/south on the face you strike the ball. As Titleist staff instructor John Kostis notes in this video, most players are fairly proficient at reading putts and gauging the speed needed. They fall short, however, in developing a repeatable putting stroke that allows them to roll the golf ball the required speed.
