We were playing Birdsfoot Golf Club north of Pittsburgh, PA on a sunny Sunday morning May 31st 2020. Had a great round going with 3 good buddies, close match, coming down to the final few holes. We step up to #17, I teed up first as I was playing the tips. 185 yard down hill, middle flag, wind left to right, formidable Par 3. Eased up on a AP2 718 7-iron and hit a baby draw that bounced once, bounced twice and then stopped at the bottom of the stick. With the Covid-19 restrictions, the course inserted foam into the bottom of the cup so that balls would not fall into the hole. It was difficult to see if the ball was actually in the hole, so without skipping a beat, my buddy drove directly to the green and began celebrating, jumping up and down, rolling, kicking and cheering. Immediately, I began to sprint to the green, elated, and in a celebratory haste that I can not reasonably describe, I launched my AP2 718 7-iron into the air about 60 yards to the left and into the waste high fescue. Unfortunately, after searching rigorously, we never found my 7-iron. Also unfortunate, I stepped up to #18 and with my adrenaline pumping, tried to hit my drive a few yards further than normal, pulled it dead left into the fescue....it was the same ball I just aced the hole before! So with that said, in my finest golf moment, followed quickly by most pigheaded, I Aced my first Par-3 and don't have the Club or the Ball to show for it. I will say, it was 100% worth it to finally be part of the club!!
