2020 Happy - Gilmore Ryder Cup
By Keith L On October 22, 2020
I was a part of a weekend golf outing of 16 organized by a neighbor to the Oglebay Golf Club in Wheeling, WV. My neighbor Jon, placed us in teams playing different games for each nine, sort of a Ryder Cup format.
The Palmer course is a true out and back 18 hole course. Before starting the last nine, it was suggested that the group play a hybrid nine, 1-5 and then move over to 15 to play back in to the clubhouse. Some groups had trouble following the instructions given by Jon, so we decided that switching would cause more grief. Thankfully, we played 1-9.
On the final hole of the day, I hit a pitching wedge to the hole location on the front of the green. It landed about 4 feet from the hole and rolled with the slope of the green into the hole. We went nuts!
My first hole in one and a great conclusion to a day when I played very well.
