FINALLY!

My first exposure to golf was back in the early 60's when I was 12. My brother worked in the pro shop of a local county course in Wisconsin to earn money for college. He would allow me to come out and play a few holes at dusk when the course was empty. I didn't have a set of clubs but would borrow clubs that were in the lost and found. I have been hooked on the sport ever since. When I was in high school I approached the boy's golf coach and asked if they could start a girl's golf team but I guess I was before my time. There were basically no girl's sports at that time, just cheerleading.
I am now 68 years old and since I retired I have been playing almost 4 times a week especially this year with the Covid pandemic because it is about the only "normal" thing we can do right now. Two things on my golf bucket list remained all these years...an eagle and a hole in one. At the end of each season I would sigh and say "well, I didn't get my hole in one this year so I sure hope I am still able to play next year".
Finally on August 5th 2020 I got the hole in one. It was 2 days before I was scheduled to have surgery on plantar fasciitis which would keep me off the course for a few weeks. I was playing with friends from my condo association. I played the men's senior tee on a par three which measured 160 yards and I used my driver. The hole has a very small and elevated green and no one in my group saw the ball go in. When we got up to the green we all looked for the ball but couldn't find it. Finally I said "check the hole" and lo and behold it was there. I used a Titleist Tour Soft which must have hit the flag stick and dropped straight down because the ball has a yellow mark on it.
Now I can scratch that off my bucket list.... it's the eagle that remains on it although I have come within inches of getting one many times over the years.
