January Ace - in Upstate New York!
By james c On February 23, 2021
I have been playing to a single digit for about twenty years now and have never had a hole-in-one. Taking advantage of an unusually snowless January here in one of the snow capitals of the country, my friend Jeff and I decided to play a quick 9 holes at Craigy Brae in Rochester, NY. Temps were in the 30's and the ground was frozen firm, but there was no standing snow. We get to hole #6 (playing 160 that day) and hit an 8 iron right at the stick. It landed before the pin and headed towards the flag. It was hard to see with the glare of the frost (and my diminishing eye sight). I heard the distinct sound of ball hitting flagstick. Jeff said "I think that went in". I have been there before, so I was skeptical. We get to the green and there was no ball in sight - I knew then that my wait was over.
