Long Long Road

I’ve been playing the game of golf for 45 years and at age 61 my first hole-in-one finally happened. The journey has been a long long frustrating one...lol After numerous lip outs, ricochettes off the flag stick and shots left inside of 6 inches, one finally dropped! It happened at my home course, Le Triomphe C.C. located in Broussard, Louisiana. Hole #16, on that day the white tees were all the way forward and the distance to pin was 116 yards and into a 5-10mph wind. I figured the prevailing wind would hold up my shot of a PW by 10-15 yards which I typically hit 130yds. I hit the shot and from the tee it never left the line of the pin, it may be one of the staightest shots I’ve ever hit. The ball landed 5 yards short of the hole and rolled in a perfectly straight line into the hole. My first thought was that it rolled around and behind the hole and was hidden by the flag stick but my playing partner said no it’s not behind the hole, it’s in the hole! I remember thinking on my 116 yard walk to the green....did it really finally just happen? Upon reaching the hole and anxiously looking inside, yes my Titleist Pro V1x was indeed sitting in the bottom of the cup. I remember letting out a big breath of relief and saying to myself...What a Long Long Road! Marc Broussard, Le Triomphe C.C., HDCP. 11
