Me, Grandpa HaHa and Titleist 1's
By James D On January 26, 2021
Greetings friends,
I'm happy to write to let you know that on Jan 15th, 2021 I achieved my first ever Hole-in-One with a new Titleist ProV1 on hole #14 at Chardonnay Golf Club in Napa, CA. I was playing with two good friends who witnessed and celebrated with me.
The first person I called was my mother who grew up playing golf at Oak Hill CC in Rochester, NY where her father served as Club President for several years. I'm an 11 index and not a great golfer, more of a basketball/football player in my youth but I've come to absolutely love the game of golf. My grandfather, despite passing away over 25 years ago, remains an inspiration to me in many ways but especially when I'm golfing.
A few years ago on a trip home to Rochester I noticed a golf ball in a glass holder and asked my mom about it. Turns out it was my grandfather's Hole-in-One ball from Oak Hill. She allowed me to take it back to California and my wife graciously allowed me to place it on the mantle in our living room next to his picture.
I almost forgot it was there over the years but upon returning home from my round that day I was so proud to place my Hole-in-One ball next to Grandpa Ha Ha's. I realized at that moment that both golf balls are Titleist 1's. His is slightly yellow with age and mine is bright white with a small purple dot but both being Titleist and with the number one is a special coincidence for me and gives me ample opportunity to remember my grandfather and all the love and support he gave to our family, especially my mother, over the years. Call me crazy but its hard not to think that someone or something up high in the air that day helped guide the wind that beautiful afternoon and direct my Titleist 1 into the hole. Believe that or not, your golf ball will always make me smile and make me remember how much family means and how special golf and family are in my life. Thank you for making great products that help me enjoy a game I love. I hope you and whomever you share this with gets even a small fraction of the joy that this has created in my life, and during a time when we need hope and joy more than ever!
Cheers,
James DeLuca
