My third Eagle
By Joan S On September 4, 2011
I have golfed a long time and am one of the worst in this particular league. I have been fortunate enough to have a few good memories of golf including getting a par on #18 at Kapalua, an eagle on # 15 at South Toledo, and an eagle at #2 Beachwood Golf course at Myrtle Beach but I never thought I would get a hole in one with my struggling game.
(When I drove DA Weibring to the airport after the US Senior open here this year, he commented that the pro's tend to remember the bad shots; the amateurs remember the good ones....But I should have reminded him that the pro's have fewer bad shots to remember and we have fewer really great shots to remember!!!)
I knew I hit a good shot when I finished my swing and there was a huge weed in front of me blocking my view of the green, so I turned away. One of the guys in my foursome started shouting " hit the pin" and then said, " It went in!!!"....What a thrill, even if I didn't see it go in. Golf is such a maddening game at times, but these magical moments is what makes it so special. Sharing these events with long time friends makes it even more special.
Golf truely is a game for a lifetime. I have friends who have had a hole in one in their 70's. It is very exciting, even if it was a pretty short hole!!!!
