They can build the bridge
By Tom M On August 13, 2011
For about 30 years running, my brother Terry, a great friend Tim Giebler, and I have had a laughable bet of what will happen first; one of us getting a hole in one or will our town build a much needed new bridge that connects Minnesota with Wisconsin. We are now in our early 50's and have played thousands of rounds of golf since that on going quest. For years the bridge has been pushed back with protests from various poilitical groups claiming wildlife endangerment, scenic value, etc. Each year we kept telling ourselves we've bought some more time. Well this year it finally looks like the funding and bureacracy is in place to set a date (we figured we had 5 more years). So on August 11, 2011 at about 6:30pm on the 13th hole at our home course (Stillwater Country Club) I hit a perfect shot that ended up in the cup and the first words shouted out of my mouth were "They can build the bridge" to the amazement of some newer members not truly aware of our trio's on going strife to conquer a goal before gov't could settle an issue.
Thanks to your ball (Pro V 1X) I am still able to hit shots as long as when I was in my 20's. It was a down hill hole 175 yard hole but I still can make a 7 iron go far enough and land soft enough to trickle in to the hole.
Sincerely,
Tom Murphy
