In September 2016 I was playing in an annual golf dat with around 16 of our mates. We were playing pairs match play at Worldham Golf Club in Alton, Hampshire, UK. We were the first group out and we therefore had to take the nearest to pin marker with us ready for the 3rd hole. While stood on the tee I ‘jokingly’ said to the boys.. “what do I do when I hole it, stick the marker in the hole?”.. 165 yards and an 8 iron later and we were all celebrating on the tee! From behind us we heard someone from the 1st tee shout.. “for god sake, anyone but you!!!” - amazing day and amazing memory, and an expensive one too!!! Although I did of course win nearest to the pin which helped cover the cost of the beers
