The event at Fox Harb’r was an absolute blast. I cannot say enough about the way we were treated right from when we checked in through to the closing dinner. The staff at the resort were also very accommodating. There is no doubt that the staff at Titleist had worked long and hard planning every detail to make the full 2 and a half days a memorable occasion for everyone.
On the day of arrival we got to meet up with some of the Titleist staff at check in and then I moved pretty quickly to the range to get fit for the new GT metals. Awesome clubs for sure… That evening we gathered on a patio overlooking the course and had a chipping competition hitting ProV1’s into the pond. Closet to the target won a free fitted wedge. Apparently if someone actually hit into a small target they would get a full set of wedges but that did not happen. Personally - after driving that morning and going through the fitting process, I almost got one ball into the pond :) We followed up the short game competition with a social and a nice buffet dinner overlooking the venue.
On the first full day, another group of TT Members got their turn at getting fit for the new GT Metals. Then we were paired up and played 18 holes in tournament play. The competition was net, and the winner came in at 2 under so no sandbaggers in the group ! Later that day we got together for a putting contest. The Titleist staff set up a really neat mini putt with a string layout. Roll outside the strings and you need to take a drop and a penalty :) The winner walked away with a Scotty Cameron Putter ! Alas - I did better than I did in the short game contest, but not well enough… I did however manage to find that “Magic Putter” and have on on order right now !
This was followed by a great dinner at the Sporting Lodge where everyone enjoyed another buffet style meal, a lot of great conversation, some “refreshments” and I even saw some tossing horseshoes. At last a game where close actually counts…
The second full day started out nice despite the dreary forecast. The rest of the TT Members got their turn at fittings for the new GT Metals and we all headed out in new foursomes for a better ball tourney. It was nice to begin with, but in the end the East Coast threw her fury at us with winds and torrential rains. There was no hope once the greens had rivers flowing through them and the fairways had new ponds that were unmarked by red stakes. The play was halted but fortunately all the teams managed to get in nine holes to allow for a tournament winning team to be selected.
The closing banquet was awesome and the icing on the cake was that the sun came out long enough for us to get a group shot with all the TT Members along with the Titleist Staff members who put this all together. The background was some fairways along with the ocean . The foreground was 36 TT Participants, 7 Titleist Staff Members, and I am hoping all the smiles did not overload the aperture of the camera :)
I know I had an unforgettable experience. Even my wife who came along as a golf widow managed to amuse herself with some different spa treatments and got to watch the putting contest and interact with a number of staff and attendees.
I am sure I speak for all the TT Attendees when I offer my sincerest Thank You to all the TT staff members who worked in the forefront and in the background to make this occasion one to remember.
I am forever grateful for being able to participate in this event…
