After playing golf in the prairies for many years where it is dry & hard, I moved to the wet (West) coast, where the conditions are very rarely hard, in fact at best they get firm in mid summer. In the past year I have struggled with wedges due to the soft conditions; a little fat in dry conditions will result in a longer put, but in wet conditions you won't even reach the green.
I play Vokeys, a 50, 54, & 58, all with 8 degrees of bounce. I am curious what is recommended in this condition, and if 14 degrees is too much bounce for firm but not hard conditions in the summer. As a final note, if I have my 50 bent, how much can they bend it as it is a cast club, and is the additional degree of loft a 1 to 1 ratio with the additional bounce created? My thought being to bend the 50 to 54, and the 54 to 57, both changes should get the bounce to approx 12 degrees, and purchase a new 50 with approx 10 degrees.
