I've played ZB's for the past 4 years and want to go to the new AP2 712's. I hit the ball low with Project X Flighted 5.5 shafts and although they've served me well, I would like to hit the ball on a higher trajectory than I do presently. My latest session at Golf Town here in Canada was a disappointment. I find it really hard to get a feel for flight on a launch monitor despite the info it provides. And... they didn't have all the Titleist shafts I needed to try. I'm 48, 5'9", 157 lbs., a 3 cap and swing about 95 MPH. My question is: Nippon 105T, True T Dynamic Gold HL, or Dynalite SL's. Or... some combination of these in various irons. I know I need to get to a Titleist Demo/ fitting day but this is difficult to do where I live. I'm just looking for advice from people who have fit others or played these shafts themselves. Thank-you in advance for any recommendations or advice you may have.

If you keep the same shafts, I guarantee you'll hit the ball higher with the AP2 712 irons just by nature of the iron design.  If you wanted to go with something a little higher, many of my players enjoy the AP2 / KBS Tour Stiff combo.  It's essentially the highest and strongest shaft combo at standard lofts.

Thanks Ryan, I'll try to see a fitter about the KBS tour shafts up here in the new year. I've heard a lot of talk about the TT Dynalite XP previously offered in the AP1's. What are your thoughts for a low ball hitter like me in the AP2's? Thank-you again, Steve

The XP is currently offered as the stock shaft in the AP1s and it's always available to test and use as a custom option. Just putting the AP2 in your hands will most likely increase your launch and spin. The biggest factor is always the clubhead and clubface loft. Particular shafts can increase your launch a degree or so like the XP, Nippon, and the KBS Tour. RC

True Temper Lite XL has a higher ball flight vs DG and is 1-2 swingweight pts heavier vs DG on a fully assembled club (thinner butt end). It also gives a little more feedback vs DG.

Hey bogeyfree66 I made the club switch your thinking of. I was a ZB player and i switched to the AP'2 on the 710 line a year ago. and I will can tell you that you will hit be ball higher. I'm actually going to switch to MB's this year because i didn't need to hit the ball higher. I actually needed to hit the ball lower. I just happen to Bomb a 6 iron 200 yard of carry on a fitting day and bought into good feeling. Witch i have nothing but good things to say about the AP2 line. they are a great club and in my thoughts the best club in its category. Its just my swing style and speed don't always agree with the ap2 line so I'd like to get back in the MB line.

But my advice to you is yea try to get a good fitting but if all else fails order the ap2's to your specs with the same shafts and i'm willing to bet you'll be very happy with the results.
