  1. I'm thinking of buying the new AP1s and would like some advice on shaft type. I have a relatively slower, smooth swing and hit my 6 iron about 155 - 160 yds. Ball flight is relatively high, I don't have any problem getting the ball airborne. what do you think about the stock shafts? Should I be considering any of the optional shafts that might be a bit lighter in weight? Thanks for any help, Steve.

Try the stock Dynalite Gold XP's: I was fit by a Titleist Advanced Fitter and liked those the best, even compared to graphite, with a similarly slow swing speed. I find that the superlight steel shafts cause me to hit hooks. In my case, I ordered the Dynalite Gold XPs soft-stepped twice to swing more like an "A" flex and they've been great in my AP1 712s.

My advice to you would be to get fit for your irons. Swing-weight, lie angles, loft(strong or weak) and shaft length and weight will all be covered in a professional fitting. Ask lots of questions! And when the fitter seems to be getting upset at you for asking to many questions, ask more questions. They're your clubs and you're spending your money so you should leave the fitting with no question in your mind that you were fit for the correct irons. Good luck in your quest. Fairways & Greens
  4. thanks ... i think that is good advice. I've been looking at GolfTec and will probably see if they can do a thorough fitting with titleist and can evaluate different shaft types.
