I was fit several years ago for X-22 irons, uniflex shaft, +1/2", 2 deg upright. I have been playing a great deal and now feel that I am "outplaying" those clubs.

My particular issue is the uniflex shaft and what might be too much offset as well. I have begun my search for new irons, and although I am ready to move to "better player" irons, I think the AP1 is sufficient for my ability at this time. I'm curious to hear the thoughts of the group and a Team Titleist Concierge on this...I'm thinking AP1 irons, with Project X, 5.5 shafts.

I should also note that I am naturally a high ball hitter and naturally have a "slight draw". My misses are left.

I moved out of the Callaway X-22 Irons last year. I found a coworker to pawn them off to. I went with the AP2 with 6.0 Project shafts. I gained a club and a half compared to the Callaway's. My neighbor did the same thing and similar results. I used to be a fan of Callaway clubs but no longer.

I had the same issues after a few years and I too left X-20's for the AP1-712 irons and Vokey SM4's. do get fitted by a certified/auth. Titleist fitter,(outdoors on range) if you do indeed want Titleist brand. I went to fitting with my mind on the AP2-712, liked the look and feel but also liked the look and feel of the AP1-712. After an hour plus of different shaft and lie combo's,etc. I ended up in the AP1-712 w/Dynam XP S300(stiff) shafts. -1/4" length and -2* lie (every player is different) Regained a good 10 yards per iron, from the X-20's. Very happy. The AP1-712 vs AP2-712 for me are easier to hit/control, also a bit more forgiving than the AP2-712 and are $300.00 to $400.00 less for a set! :) If you don't care to much about cost, you could mix and match, maybe the AP1's for long irons and the AP2's for short. Whatever works for you, just throwing ideas out there. Again, every player is different so I'd decide on a brand and then go get custom fitted. Good luck and have fun.

Had a set of G10 Ping that had not been fit for me.  Turns out I needed a little more length and graphite shafts.  Tried both a G20 and AP1 712 on a launch monitor testing lie and shaft characteristics.  Both improved the distance by more than a club.  The AP1 felt better on good hits and looks more like a hitters club than the wide sole G20.  The new shaft options put the 712 on the table - I'm 61 with a slower speed.  My game is not yet far enough to really feel a difference between a forged versus a cast head.  So I agree with Ron P about why the AP1 was enough of a club for me.  In my case, I've learned to get fit, as very little equipment in left handed clubs is ever available

    Have fun!
