I am on the verge of buying new irons. I am not sure which iron is going to best suit my game. My brain tells me that the AP1 is probably the better choice, but my ego tells me the AP2. I'm caught in the middle. I have been playing the MX-25's and my handicap has dropped to 12-13 range and if I could be more consistent (read: practice more) from 100yds and in I could drop it lower. Can the fitting process help me to figure which club is going to work best for me or do I need to know which club I want to be fitted to when I show up? I've hit them both into store nets and they both feel great.

I played Titleist 755 forged irons before buying my new AP2 712s. The 755s were targeted at a 10-15 handicap. Not blades, but not super GI either. The AP2s are targeted at a better golfer, from pro to say 10-12. I am a 9-11 and can say in all honesty that these AP2 712s, even much more so than the AP2 710s, are definitely more forgiving that my old 755s. If you like the new AP2 712s, don't be afraid of them. I love and trust mine. One suggestion if you are concerned about the longer irons, get a combo set. The PW-7 iron are effortless, but maybe play the AP1 in the 6, 5 and 4 (if you use one). Personally, I don't think it is necessary.

Get the AP2's you will be down to a single digit handicap and in no time and you will want the AP2's.
