Driver: Shaft vs Playing length

    Hi @all,

    I wanted to change my Driver from another brand to the new TSR3 Driver and wanted to move my MCA Tensei Pro White 1k to the new Titleist Driver. So I will let the current Driver Adaptor Sleeve change to Titleist SureFit Adaptor. My current playing length is 45,25 inch (Shaft including adaptor installed in the Driver head and grip), based on the measure method that the club is laying on a flat, horizontal surface, like a table or countertop, bottom of the club head turned, so it's at a 60-degree angle to the surface I am measuring the club on. Finally measured from the end of the grip to the point where the bottom of the club head meets the flat surface (I do not know if it is the same method Titleist uses?) So the question is how long must the shaft length be including Titleist adaptor and grip to be then installed in the TSR3 (or TSI3 if it is the same) head in a playing length of 45 inches? (so that I can take my current Shaft correctly prepared with me to the Demo Day Session).

    This sounds like a lot of work to then get a fitting for a new driver. I’d suggest just take your current gamer to the fitting as is. If your fitter doesn’t have that shaft in the matrix, the fitter can get a loaner from Titleist in advance of your fitting. Not sure of the lead time, but it used to be around 2 weeks in advance.
    If that shaft is an exotic, then you can order the driver with a no upcharge option and then get your shaft adapted to the Titleist Sure-Fit. Just be sure you let the fitter find you the best combination. If you are convinced the TSR-3 and the Tensai White will be the shaft, might as well save you and the fitter time and just order it. I’ve not yet been able to predict what the fitter will recommend.

    Titleist measure their shaft lengths without the grip- measurement with grip on adds the grip cap measurement which usually is 1/8" - 1/4". An accurate method would be to lean your club against a 48" ruler such that the club is properly soled allowing the full to the ground length to be measured. From your measurement you would have to deduct the depth of the grip cap to match the Titleist Playing length.

    Last time I checked, if you measure the overall length of the shaft from end of grip to tip of Titleist adaptor it will be 1" less than the playing length
