I am a 5 handicap and I love to play golf.

What concerns me is that the Titleist AP2 irons have amazing feel and distance. I was practicing and I hit my 5-iron to about 200 yards. BUT, my miss hits either gets shanked or I pull/slice the ball to the right. I never had a problem of hitting it right but right when I started to use these irons, the ball kept going right. I probably hit shots like this 8/10 times.

But other than that, these irons are flawless. I have amazing control with them and they feel sweet at impact.

Are there any tips or suggestions?

What do you think about these irons? How well can you hit them??

Leave a reply, I want to know

    Thanks

I'm about a 9 handicap and wasn't sure I was "good enough" to play AP2s.  When I got fit, that was the club I hit the best.  My misses were better than my misses with my 990s, but my pure shots were more or less perfect.  The ball flight was amazing and the ball felt like it wasn't even there.

If you didn't get fit, maybe you should.  My fitter adjusted my loft 2* flat and it made a world of difference.  You could also be playing the wrong shaft.  If you're a 5 handicap you should be able to hit these very well.

  3. I thoroughly enjoy my ap2 irons. I haven't experienced what you are saying, but unless you're a touring pro, mishits can happen. Typically after a bad shot I tend to examine if that is a repititive outcome. If so, then its my swing and I need to make an adjustment. Right now I'm just dying for the weather to warm up again so I can hit the course!!

I purchased the AP2 710 irons in the fall of 09.  I played them all last summer and absolutly loved them.  I also saw an increase in distance and it took me a little practice to judge my distance control.  But once I got them dialed in it really felt like I could go pin seeking.  The first suggestion is get fitted, I went to our local pro and he spent the time so I could get the perfect club for my swing.  On the shots going right I would take a look at the shafts you may have to weak of a shaft for your swing but a fitter would also be able to check you swing speed and find the right shaft for you.  Lastly I never talk about the SHANK word its all mental.  Hope this helps and I would reccomed the AP2's to anyone.

It's possible that the lies need adjusting.  Too many right shots would indicate that the irons are too flat.  Making them more upright...about 2* from where they are now, could make a difference.
