Hello, fellow forum members. My name is Christopher Boghosian, a new member to the community. I’d like to take a moment to share my amazing experience while getting fit at the TPI, Oceanside, just last week.
Upon arriving, still at my car, I was immediately greeted by Andy, a distinguished man, who welcomed me and carried my bag inside. The facility is top-notch. I had access to a fully stocked locker room, including my own locker for the day.
Needless to say, being out on the range was spectacular. Surrounded by testing facilities and impeccably cared for grounds was truly inspiring. In fact, I was in such awe, it took me about a dozen balls or so to lower my adrenaline and start hitting decent shots.
Travis Johnson was my fitter. He listened carefully when I spoke up and shared only what was necessary for an effective fitting. He let me focus on my shots and didn’t bother with too much detail. However, he did take the time to show me what was going on according to the trackman results.
Travis cared deeply about fitting me with the best clubs for me: GT2 driver, GT3 woods, and a combo set of T100 and T150s.
We then headed to the pitching area. Rather than rush me through wedges, Travis was very patient as I chunked a few shots. He did give me a quick tip, which then resulted in a bunch of beautifully hit short pitch shots. It was awesome!
After about 45 minutes or so on the pitching green, and a few bunker shots, I ended up with three Vokey wedges well suited for me.
Fun note: during the entire fitting, off on the left side of the facilities, I could see the robotic arm pounding away at test balls while a couple employees took measurements out on the range. So cool.
Getting fit at the TPI is definitely an investment. However, after experiencing it for myself, I now know it is well worth it and I look forward to returning!!!
