AVX is designed for lower flight. If you draw an arch you will see that at some point, you reach a height apex where the higher you go, the shorter the overall distance. Some people prefer to loose a yard or two to gain height and therefore stopping power around the greens if they generate minimal spin. Ball distance is just part of the equation when selecting the ball that best suites your game. If you are getting the extra distance and it’s not creating other issues in your game, sounds like AVX is the ball for you.

I have played both and distance wise noticed no difference. Could be the equipment I am using. AVX spins less. Have others say they get better distance.

Same with me, though I did see a bit of a distance gain with the latest generation of AVX. I play AVX though because it is the softest ball around the green, and a lower ball flight, suits my game the best.
