New to the discussion threads and thought I would ask all you seasoned Pro V1 pros out there...

I've been gaming Pro V1s and love them. My swing speed is about 102mph driver and 82mph irons. My daughter is trying out for varsity high school golf and she's been through a few balls for fit. Being a Pro V1 fan, I asked her to try it out and she's been gaming it for the past few months. She compresses her irons well, and is working on getting her swing speed up, but is closer to 88mph driver and 75mph irons. She seems to like Titleist Pro V1 (they cost more but she doesn't lose as many and she likes how they deliver consistent performance).

Is there an ideal SS for Pro V1s? Should we be considering something else in the Titleist line-up for her or should she play the ball she can grow into? Appreciate any insight.

If the ProV1's are working for her, by all means continue her on that path. You can check to see if there is a Titleist ball fitting in you area. If so, have her go for a ball fitting, as most of us here have done.

Ball selection is not just about swing speed. You will see ProV1 and ProV1x used almost equally on PGA tour, LPGA tour, and by amateurs of all abilities. The selection of ball is always based on a combination of personal feel and what part of your game does a particular ball give you the most needed results. Example being, I am a low iron striker therefore the ProV1x was my selection to give me more height and spin on shots to the greens. I like chipping and putting with the ProV1 better but changed in order to score better by hitting more greens. Everyone is a little different so what is important is selecting the ball that gives you the results you find most important in your game.

Not for Titleist balls. They are designed to work at all swing speeds. The ball doesn’t know if a driver or wedge is hitting it.

The balls do vary by spin and launch characteristics. Each golfer should find the best ball for their game. Your daughter’s swing speed might (pure guess on my part) need a little more launch and spin to max distance. She might do better with the X instead of the V. If you can’t find a Titleist ball fitting, be sure to trial both for best results. There are those in this range that might do better with the AVX. Go figure…

At slower swing speeds, Titleist fits many in the X for that reason.
