No one should ever tell you which ball to play. A proper ball fitting should give you some feedback as to how each ball reacts to your swing but ultimately, you need to decide which one gives you the most confidence on the course. For some people it might be the ProV1, others might be ProV1x, or one of the other Titleist models. Once you pick one, playing that one ball and not bouncing around will give you the best consistency.

There is no right or wrong here, only what performs best for you. I am also a ProV1 guy but the only way to confirm what performs best for you is to try the different options side by side or even better go and try a Titleist ball fitting.

I was very lucky to attend a Titleist day at the Titleist Performance Centre at Woburn in the UK and went through the ball fitting process from half wedge to full wedge, 7 iron, 5 iron and then driver trying all the ball variants and you will be amazed at what you learn about the different performance characteristics.

For me there is almost no difference in the short game performance and feel of the 25 ProV1 and ProV1x, in blind testing I couldn't tell you which is which. In longer shots though, the ProV1 gives me a much better launch and spin profile and I really notice the difference.

You have probably found yourself using the ProV1 as it is the ball that works best for your game, but to have the validation of a proper fitting is brilliant.

I have been a ProV1 user for the last two years, but just had a ball fitting with a Titleist specialist having recently experimented with other makes such as cally, TM, srxn and although I found something I was not over impressed with the other guys.

Turns out the ProV1x is the better ball for me and my ball flight and in a straight comparison on the range it seemed to make a visible difference for me.
