It sounds like you were hitting a Surefit fitting iron and the -2 would indicate 2 flat.  The PGA superstore should have a certified fitter on staff and he/she would be the person to contact there.

I was hitting a surefit fitting iron. i had the guy install a X100 shaft in the 6 iron. Then when I asked him why was there a Std and a -2 on the head, he just gave me a blank stare and said i have no clue. I asked him if he could find someone else and see if they know. he came back about 3 minutes later and said no one else knows either...oh well.. point being i like the way this iron felt and was wondering what the setup was.

You will find this system with a few companies now. The two numbers indicate you can use the iron for two lie angles. For instance, if your fitter has you hit the iron at standard length, it plays at standard lie angle for the purposes of fitting your proper lie angle. If the fitting shows that you may need a flatter lie setup, a 1/2 inch shorter shaft can be used in assembly and the iron will then effective play to a -2 degree lie. This is for lie purposes ONLY! The length will be fitted independently although good fitters can often work these two specs at the same time.

    Way to go Cathi.

So many people think Titleist is just about what the Pro's want and don't care about the little people.

This just goes to show You do care. (tear).

The reason for the 2 markings on the heads is that just like the SFT hosel on the woods the new fit carts now have the ability to make a club 2 different lie angles with the same club, to make it std you put the shaft in one way and to make it 2* flat you rotate the shaft 180* and put it in that way. Much more precise fit and less club heads needed in the cart. Not sure why OEM's didn't think of this sooner.

I talked with Scott and set up an appointment for this past Saturday. The fitting went GREAT! Scott is a super nice guy and helped me out 100%. I've got the specs for my new irons and hopefully will be ordering them within a week or so.
