I have a set of 695cbs and a set of 695mbs I would like to have them both reshafted but wanted to know what is the tip size of the 2 sets?  I was looking at getting some rifle shafts put in them but not sure what tip size.  I know the club repair individual will know this but i am curious as to whether it is even worth it or should I just buy a new set of clubs.

The typical labor for a reshaft is $17-20 per club. Grip is $6.00 or so per club. Latest Golfsmith price is $35 per shaft. It would be $60 per club.

    Brett,

695s are all taper tip .335. If you are going to reshaft I would suggest buying pullouts on  an online auction site same shafts some already have grips and are a fraction of the new shaft & grip cost.

    Thanks,

I would suggest selling both sets and Using that money plus the money you would have spend on reshafts and get yourself a new set of 712. I bet you work out only having to pay a couple hundred or so extra but will get a new set with the proper shafts and new grooves and technology.

That would be true, given that a used set of golf clubs is worth about 30% of its new price almost as soon as it leaves the store. Check www.pga.com for the resale value of the clubs. People on Craig's List just about expect you to just about give your clubs away. IF you decided to do the reshaft yourself (steel shafts aren't difficult once you learn how to do it) the savings is between $12-17 per club (former being if you pull the head and latter being if the shop pulls the head; latter is better). Still $43-48 per club. The savings factors grip tape, epoxy and buying a tubing cutter. Taper shafts are simple - rough up the tip, epoxy it, slap it in, etc. With parallel shafts one has to trim the tip (usually about 5" with a wedge and 1/2" less as you go up). Also need to weigh the up-charge cost of having Project X shafts installed on the new clubs vs DG (which is $14 per shaft).

Correct they are taper tip iron shafts but they are .355". Not .335"

Hi Brett,  If you have it reshafted here, the MSRP cost would be $60.00 per club for a Rifle shaft and that includes a standard grip.  If you have it reshafted with a KBS, the MSRP cost would be $45.00 per club including a standard grip.  Your golf shop can set that up for you and it would take about 4 days.  The tip size is a .355 taper tip.

[/quote] KBS' are some good shafts. I tried one alongside a DG R300 and they both felt pretty good. My irons are TT Lite XL r flex - these give a little more feedback vs a DG R300. DG Sensicore has a goo feel to it.

Thanks Lou,  I have DG in these sets currently and have a set of Mp33's with Rifle shafts in them as a back up set of sorts.  I took all 3 to the range and the flight of the ball off the mp33 with rifle shafts was a much lower flight path than the dynamic golds.  Also, the DG's tended to ballon on me, so at this point I am up for some serious range time with several different shafts to see what flight of the ball I like. I will give the kbs shafts a shot also, I guess I need to decide between Rifle's and project X shafts also.

DG is supposed be a low flight shaft. Project X rifle is supposed to be low flight for Stiff + (6.0) and X (6.5) and medium flight for R and R+. If you're ballooning with DG S300 may want to try S400 or X100. I use TT Lite XL r flex on my irons because I like a high ball flight (sticks greens better). I have wedge flex on my wedges - they work fine so why change (soft stiff is better for control)?
