Hi, i was wondering if my AP2 710 irons i just bought are fake. The Project X logo looks good. The ferrule looks good but i have two major concerns. On the back of the the club, where it says "forged" one some of the clubs, the paintfill is missing on some of the letters. The "f" on my six iron is completely the same color as the rest of the club. My other concern is that where it says "AP2" the "AP" is silver and the "2" is white. i looked at some photos on Titleist's website and it looks like the the color should be opposite. Thanks for the help

If you could put some pictures on the web and link them to another post so we could see your concerns, maybe one of the folks from Titleist could tell you for sure. Things like you mentioned, inconsistencies like paint color or paint fill might be indicators, but if you bought the clubs used, maybe the previous owner used a wire brush to clean them and got too aggressive with a few of the clubs getting dirt off them.

As one of the moderators of a golf forum, I can tell you we fight a constant battle against counterfeit club sellers posting on our site. Most of the evidence we see and hear about is more a matter of the letters in the print or molded into the club being slightly off in depth, width, connecting points and the like. Most times you can't tell without comparing the irons to a set you know are genuine, side by side.

So I guess the first question is, where did you buy them? Secondly, what did you pay for them? If you got them new and paid a lot less than the big box stores like Watts, TGW or Golfsmith charge, you probably have legitimate concerns.

Sounds like they are. But before you find out for sure, it may be a manufacturing error. Maybe they just had a glitch and got the paint wrong on accident. Where did you by them? get back to me and I will tell you if you bought from a fraudulent company.

Sorry for the bad picture quality. Another note, i did the magnet test and it DID NOT stick to the sole. The serial numbers are also good, five digits, numbers and letters. Also, the ProjectX logo looks perfect. Also, another good thing, is that to me, the number six, looks really good and not fake :)

I don't think they're fake. If they are, the person who made them did a REALLY good job. Have you registered the serial number on titleist yet? If not, it gives you protection against damage to your clubs. You can get a whole set for free if you find out these are fake within 1 year of registering it i believe.

    Hi Sawyer3940,

I wanted to clarify the registration process on our site in case you didn't see the notice on the product registration page. Keep in mind that registering a serial number does not confirm the authenticity of the product. The only way to be sure that the product is authentic, is to purchase your Titleist products from an authorized dealer.

Please feel free to contact our brand protection team at ip@acushnetgolf.com if you have any additional questions. You can also view our brand protection page to get some more information on counterfeit products. Here is the link: http://www.titleist.com/customer-service/counterfeit-product-notice.aspx

    Hey Sawyer,

Don't worry about the paintfill missing from the letters. I have had my 710s for a year now and after a season of play several of the clubs were missing paint fill in the "FORGED" logo. I custom ordered the set from Titleist so I know they are legit.

I look at it as a good reason to change the paint fill on the whole set. I went with Royal Blue for the sole numbers and a light blue in the "FORGED" and "710" on the hosel. Gives them a personal touch!

    Hi Guys,

Is the magnet test only for the sole or any place on the club head?  I'm guessing you're testing the sole because of the tungsten and not the rest of the club head.  Please let me know.

    Thanks.
