I currently have the 710 AP1 irons 4-P in my bag. I love them and I like how they feel and sound when i get good hits. I've been playing for 2 years now (1 with the AP1s) and as I play around with different players they comment that I have great club heads but not great shafts ( Nippon NS Pro 105T for Titleist- Stiff) . I want to make to make a transition from playing a high launch shots to more lower angels. I have been looking at the project X 6.0 shafts and wondering if it would be worth the upgrade on my AP1s and if it would be too hard of a transition? Also, I'm want to know how much it would cost for Titleist to make do the change or if it would be cheaper elsewhere...

Unless you can get a nice deal on some closeout shafts or ones that have been previously in a set of irons, the cost will be pretty steep. Titleist has a fair reshaft fee per club that includes new grips. Around a 3 week turnaround depending on shipping and where you are. You should do a bit more testing before making the move. Reshafting a low CG, high playability set like the AP1s just to achieve a lower launch make not create enough of a difference given the cost. If you can get to a Titleist fitter with a cart, an AP1 head can be installed onto a Project X shaft and you can make some comparisons as well as get advice. Your final decision will be much easier and based on some hard facts instead of guesswork.

I purchased my AP1s last year switching over from MachSpeed clubs.  The Titleist/Nippon stiff shaft felt great but was too high.  I had them pulled and replaced with Royal Precision Rifle 6.0 shafts at a local dealer.  I really like them and in Feb I ordered a 3 Iron with the same shaft.  It isn't hard to transition.  Just get out to the range and start swinging.  As a side note I put the Titleist/Nippon shafts in a used set of Titleist 690.mb irons I purchased in Nov last year.   Way Cool!
