    Hey guys,

For about a month now i have been interested in getting some new iron. I have tested the 710 and 712 ap1 and ap2's, 710 CB and the 710MB. I have narrowed it down to the 710 MB and the 712 AP2. Im 16 years old and am playing to a 5.7 index right now. I am looking for an accurate club, which i can work the ball with. I went out and tried both clubs at Golf Town for a total of about 3 times, today being my most recent. Out of 5 shots i had one mishit with both irons. But, the 4 shots with the MB's were very close together. The balls were within about 7 yards of each other. Consistency is key in golf which makes me lean towards the MB's. Then again that one mishit i had was i believe off the toe and went about 140 yrds right instead of a nice 170 yrd slight draw (with a 7 iron). The AP2's were not very close at all but all of them went out to about the same yardage. Im really split here guys, everyone is telling me to go with the AP2's, but performance wise, the MB's performed better for me in my book. Any advice you guys have would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks- Rob

  2. Hey,

I'm 12 and I'v jusst gone to get fitted for titlelist irons at the local club fitter. My results with the MB's were great but my ability with the AP2"s was astonishing as I could hit a low fade wih a 4 iron and still get it to go 200 yards. I had Graphite Design Tour ADi-105 s-flex put in them and put it from 200 to 210. If I were you I would get proffesional advice frrom a club fitting expert and enjoy thee game the right way, the way it was ment for you. And ssince my Irons were such a success I wet and decided to get a driver fitted. from a 10.5 degree R-flex to a 9.5 degree S-flex. from 275 to 285 in an instant. It all took a while to sink in bbu Within a month I went from a 15 handicap to a 10 handicap and shoting low 80's to mid-high 70's so it really works. Get fitted.

My suggestion is what Willem says at the end - GET FITTED.  One very important factor that you left out - what are the shafts in the  clubs?  The professional fitter will set you up with the right shaft as well.

I am going tonight to hit the clubs with my dad to see what he says, i will check the shaft and post again tonight. When you say "get FItted", what do exactly mean? like get fitted for shaft, lie angle ect? Thanks guys.

So im back! Me and my dad both agree that i hit the MB's better. Our only concern is that in the future, if i ever have an off day, its going to be really really bad, instead of just bad. This being because they are blades and harder to hit. The shaft on both were s300 stiff. I also rarely ever have a mishit, its usually just my swing so i think im going to go with the MB's.

  6. If you have a local golf pro at your golf course, he will probably know a golf club fitter that will be able to set you up with the perfect set of irons or other clubs for you.

If I were you,  I would consider a mixed set. Maybe AP2 4-5 and CB or MB 6-PW. It sounds like you are a good enough ball striker to use MB irons but I think you would be better off with more forgiving long irons like AP2's or Even CB's, I also suggest testing them outside so you can actually see the ball flight better as opposed to a launch monitor, I  thought hitting clubs outside gave me a better feel for launch and flight.

    Good Luck
