Aside from being left-handed (Titleist supports all the other clubs so well for those of us sinister), it looks like there isn't a standard SC putter that is face-balanced.  Through bending or adjusting weights, can a Scotty be set up to be face balanced?

I've tried a multitude of slight toe-weighted putters and I have to keep fighting to close the face.  I have a small McGregor mallet that was purchased used in the 90's, is face balanced and I have much better control for direction.  I'm trying to get more feel to improve speed.

  2. As I understand it, SC putters are mostly designed to have toe-hang, which works well for stroke paths that are slight arcs. It would seem that you wouldn't need to fight to close the toe on most of his putters.

I have three SC putters (Newport, Newport Mil Spec, and Studio 2.0), and have recently discovered that my stroke path is straight.  In doing some followup tests with all my putters (at least a dozen), I've had the most consistent success with an old Dead Center SP-201. The balls continue to drop in the hole.

I don't think it is exactly face-balanced, but it doesn't hang off the table at the same 45* angle as my SC putters. Bottom line - I can't argue with having 29 putts per round.

I would be very curious to know as much about this putter as possible:

    Who designed the SP-201?

    What year it was released?

    What was the original msrp?

What is the head made of?

    Who makes the shaft?

This putter could be an unsung hero!

    Thanks!

The Fastback 2 is very close to face balanced, works well for me.

My only complaint with Titleist.  Scotty doesn't cater well to the sinister of us.  The Fastback is right handed only.  IF I needed a 7.5 degree driver, that might be another.  I carry a 4W and 7W, so that narrows it down to Titleist and Ping.  I might not have even looked at Titleist if I was right handed.  Thought it was pro equipment, but they actually have the best options for seniors and women - except left-handed putters.

Maybe we should trade wives.  Mine is right-handed.  Although, I do work with her like Phil did with his dad.  We face each other on the range so she can see how our swings vary.
