  1. I am a single digit handicap and I am looking for a new driver, To me finding a new driver is very important. I am not sure which one would be best for me. The 913 D2 or D3. Any ideas? Also what might be a good shaft as well? Should I go with a stock shaft or try something different?

I am a single digit handicap as well and have previously played D3's in 909 and 910 series for lower spin.  When I demoed the 913 series I hit the D2 version better and had comparable spin with the previous D3 models.  I am very satisfied with mine.  I also replaced the stock shaft with an aftermarket shaft and am very pleased with the results. Hope this helps.

It's impossible to give a good recommendation without more information.  What's your swing speed, typical shot shape, and height that you hit the driver. Getting to a good titleist fitter and trying both heads and a variety of shafts should allow them to figure out the best combination for you   I'm an 11 but the d3 with the diamana d+ stiff in 72 grams was the best fit for me.

Again, a proper fitting will determine what works best for you.

I also am a single digit. After extensive testing, I ended up with the D2 and a 50 gram shaft which seemed to let me release better. The D3 is more manueverable, but if you have to maneuver your driver that much, you're using too much club!

  5. I recently spent some time with Titleist getting fit for new irons and a new driver. As the driver is concerned, I was hitting a 910D3 8.5* with whatever shaft that was stiff that came with it. During my fitting, I learned it was the wrong shaft as I was fighting to draw the ball. He set me up with a 913D2 8.5* with a Diamana S+ 62 x5ct in a stiff. All I can say is look out. I am not fighting it when I want to draw the ball. Hitting it straight is just as easy. You really need to go on line and look to see when the next fitting session is in your area. I promise it will help you. Good Luck and God Bless.

I'm a 4, and have a 910 D2, and a 913 D3. Both with the same Diamana shaft. I have found that the D3 seems to go a little farther, maybe a speck higher with the slightly deeper face, and I can work it a little better. The D2 is a little more forgiving and doesn't move as much when I want to, if I want to draw it or cut it. I don't know if the difference from the 910 and 913 accounts for part of these differences some, with different COG's, MOI's, spin rates etc. Your best bet as always though is go and get fit somewhere with a Titleist pro. I would recommend where you can hit outdoors AND still have the benefit of a launch monitor, so you can see the flight of the ball and still get stats on spin rate, launch etc. Being a single digit handicap too, most likely you have good feel, so see which "feels" best to you and you like at set up the way it looks too. Don't see confidence short. Good Luck

    Mark,

You can't choose a certain head over another based on your handicap or skill level.  I am a 2 handicap golfer and play the D2.  Scott Stallings, one of the longest guys on tour, plays the 913 D2.  To know what head you should go with, I believe spin is the biggest factor.  The D2 spins less.  It's also more forgiving than the D3..  As for the shaft, I personally couldn't be happier with the stock shaft that came with my driver.  Most people should get fit for the proper shaft, though..  I'm thinking it would be easier/cheaper to get fit for it before purchasing because if you don't like the stock shaft, it usually will cost a fortune to get a new one.  Be wise!

I got fit for the 913D2 Feb of 2013 and love it. I love the stock Basara shaft. It is light weight and fits me the best. I am a 4 handicap and am 67 years old. My swing speed is slower than it used to be and this shaft is great. By all means go get fitted, you will find the best club and shaft for your game. Titleist does not have the funky colors, and weird stripes on the top of their clubs. I am old school and like the Black woods with no junk on them.
