I bought my Titleist 910D3 used and it came with a made-for Titleist Aldila Voodoo stiff shaft.  I am replacing the shaft and would like to possibly use the shaft in my 910F 15* 3-wood.  I don't know the history of the shaft but would like to know if the shaft was tip trimmed or not before I butt cut it for my 3-wood.  Does anyone know if I can measure from the surefit adapter tip to any part of the shaft graphics to determine if the previous owner had it tipped?  I realize that the Titleist Aldila Voodoo shaft was not a stock offering for the 910.  It was for the 909 series but was hoping to spare myself the trouble of removing the adapter and tipping if it had already been done.  Thanks for any input.

Hello Mike; You didn't mention if you have a "Sure Fit" adapter for your fairway wood. The driver adapter and the fairway wood adapters are different, so the driver "Sure Fit adapter that is on your Voodoo shaft won't work in your fairway woods. You'll have to get a fairway wood adapter, and replace the driver adapter on you Voodoo shaft for it to work in your 3 wood.

    Norris,

No, I don't have a separate Surefit adapter for my 910F 15*.  It has a Diamana Kaili stiff shaft in it now.  I thought the driver shafts would work in the fairway woods but not the hybrids because the woods have .335 diameters and the hybrids have .370.

Mike; You may want to check to be sure. I do believe the "Sure Fit" adapters are different on the driver, and fairway wood. It's not the diameters that are different, it's the adapters themselves.

Found a thread discussing your concern:

Now I still need to confirm whether my Voodoo was tipped.

Hi Mike,  The 910 fairways and drivers used the same tip so your driver shaft will go into your fairway head.  As far as tipping, it depends on whether the shaft was built by us with the 910 tip or whether it was taken from a 909 driver and then someone put a tip on it.  If the shaft was built by us, it is probably tipped 1/2" (unless requested otherwise).  If the shaft was taken from a 909 driver, it was tipped 1" to start and depends on if the builder tipped it further.  What you can do is to butt cut it to 43.5" and play it.  If you feel it needs more tipping, you will have allowed yourself an extra 1/2" to tip trim it.  Otherwise, if it works well, you can cut it down to std length - 43".
