  1. Hi guys,

I'm looking to change my driver shaft flex from an R flex to an S flex. Does anyone have any advice on how I should go about doing that? Is it easier to buy a new driver altogether or just change the shaft? Thanks!

    Ogiebear,

What driver head do you currently have?

Easiest but most likely more expensive would be to order a new driver with the shaft you want. The new 915 will be out in November 2014. And there are many demo days coming up I would imagine. Flex is just one aspect and there are many great shafts that could help your ball flight etc. I highly recommend you go to a fitter or at least to a demo day to try to find the best shaft for you.

If you like your current driver head you could always purchase a new shaft. With Titleist drivers, only Titleist sells the adapter attached to the shaft. So you will have to get your pro to order the shaft (and adapter) straight from Titleist. I did it this way and it was very easy at least to me.

I am not sure but I think a professional club repair place could get a shaft and then use your existing adapter from your R shaft. Of course this would render your R shaft unusable unless you would pay to switch the adapter back again.  PLEASE check with you pro or Titleist before going this route as it could be risky and possibly costly if something goes wrong. I am just not totally sure about this route..

I hope this helps somewhat. Please follow up with any questions as this can be an expensive process if done incorrectly. Good luck.

Assuming you have either a Titleist 910 or 913, swapping out the shaft is pretty easy.  You can buy a new shaft with the sure-fit adapter already installed and cost wise it's also less expensive than buying a new driver.  I would suggest that you see a fitter though to get the correct shaft (one that provides you the best performance with your swing and club head).

Buy a club with a shaft you like and switch out your old shaft and resell it. I've done this with Bassara Stiff, Bassara Regular, Diamana Whiteboard, Rip Alpha 60, and finally settled for the Rip Phenom

Last year I changed my S flex shaft to X flex without changing the driver and it was a lot cheaper I bought a new 910 driver shaft for £80. I hope this will help you! Cheers!
  6. Thanks for all the feedback, guys! I have the 913 Driver... I may have to go visit a fitter. Appreciate all the help!

    Ogiebear,

    You are welcome.

The fitter will find the best shaft for you. He'll help you get the best ball flight, spin rate, distance, etc. And you'll be able to test and feel all the different shafts. I am glad you are seriously considering going this route.

Your 913 head is a great driver. So you'll be able to go the more inexpensive route of ordering a shaft to put into that head. Just please be aware that only Titleist sells the real Titleist adapter (with the shaft) for Titleist woods.

Enjoy your new shaft, you'll be amazed what the right fit will feel like and how it will perform. I think you will be very happy. Enjoy.

Going to a fitter is your best choice.........they will let you know pretty quickly what you need.......

  9. Can I ask why you are changing your shaft?, is it because of feel? or are you actually looking for a radical performance improvement? If is only feel, why don't you go for the same shaft you currently play but in S flex?

Agree with Jorge, If you're accustomed to R Flex performance, you will feel like you have to work harder to get the same performance from an S Flex. However, if your accuracy is suffering due to too much flex from the R, I would try the change. Just remember, it's more than simply pulling a shaft out and replacing it with another with different performance properties. You may have to adjust your swing as well. Good Luck!!
