    HI,

I went to my local golf shop yesterday that was having a Titleist Demo day.  This was big help for me to close out on new Irons (AP2 s with an AP1 4 iron) but I'm a little torn on the driver.  We ordered one but I'm having some second thoughts and wanted to see if I could get some help from the forum

I'm in between an 9.5 and 8.5 both with the stock Rogue Silver Shaft Stiff Flex.  With the 9.5 we turned the loft down to 8.75 and got pretty good numbers but it still tended to spin a little high, close 2200 - 2500.

We tried the 8.5 and even turned it's loft down which helps but I wasn't I'm not sure I was as consistent and of course it's hard to tell indoors.

So a long way to asking if tipping the shaft an 1/2 to 1" would reduce the spin?  My swing speed is 98 - 102 mph so not that high.

    Thank you.

According to my fitter, those are pretty good spin numbers.  My club head speed is around 93 and my spin numbers are in that range, of course I am a little older, I'm sure.  68 and moving on up.

I agree with Chuck, those numbers sound good to me.

I was fitted last week for my 915D2 9.5* driver, and my fitter (IMO, the best fitter Titleist has) showed me that my spin rate was +/- 2500 avg. and he was happy with those numbers for me. Of course my swing speed is quite a bit slower than yours, but it seems like 2500 is a pretty good number.

I'm going to jump on board and say 22-2500 are pretty darn good spin numbers.

I agree as well. You don't want to completely eliminate spin, you just want the right spin and those numbers look good to me.

As a side note, I've been on the 8.5* on the 913 as well as the 915, and both turned down .75*, but it's not really about the face angle, it's about what your swing does with it. For me, for some reason, the 9.5* just didn't feel right and I couldn't swing it even when I didn't know which one I had.

It's all what works best for your swing as you already know they are all different. Maybe instead of just looking at spin numbers, look at average carry and average roll together. Pick the one that has the best average numbers, not necessarily the one that just has the best single drive.

There are many variables that go into selecting the correct club or clubs.  That is why it is important in going to a certified fitter because they will look at every aspect of the fitting and make sure that you have the right club/clubs for your game.  Many parts go into a fitting and it takes a lot of bricks to build a house, as they say.  Having the right engine to drive that club head is the key.  I spent an hour with my fitter before we decided on the right choice to order from Titleist.

Everyone thanks for the responses.  I appreciate the community.

I also spoke to Cathy at Team Titleist who told me if I take the 8.5 Deg and had to increase the loft to 9.25 it will still have a little less spin than a the 9.5 Deg turned to 8.75.  So I just ordered the 8.5 and we'll see what happens. Can't wait to try it and I'll report back.
