I recently purchased a used set of Titleist AP2 712 irons. They are in great shape with the exception of a small sole mark on the 6-iron, a very small dent on the face (between 2 grooves) of the 4-iron (looks like a bag chatter mark), and some minor dents on several of the clubs. I'm aware this is normal/expected on forged irons. That being said, and coming from old cally stainless steel (X-14 Pro Series), how long should the grooves last before needing re-conditioning and will I be able to use one of the hand held groove sharpening tools? I took care of the Callys and, being stainless, I never had any rust issues over the obviously many years I played them. The AP2's are my first forged set and I just want to make sure I properly take care of them. The only specs I found is that they are carbon steel and I'm guessing have been plated...they are shiny. Does that mean I can't use a groove tool in the future or they will rust? Also, is there a recommended metal polish to use to keep them looking their best (aside from the normal wear from swinging and hitting golf balls)?
