  1. Does anyone else think these clubs are fairly heavy? I just updated from my late 90s DCIs and I was expecting the newer clubs to be lighter if anything. I haven't actually weighed them with a postal scale or anything, so it could be just the swing weight, rather than the actual weight is different, but they definitely feel considerably heavier.

I have these clubs and found the stock shaft to be heavy and went with a kbs lighter shaft and like them alot better.
  3. Also, could it be the shafts? The AP2s have DG S300 and the old DCIs are Rifle FCM 6.0 from when I was fitted in high school (and which I might put on these AP2s). Thanks for any help!
  4. Chances are it's just the swing weight. Just put on a bigger grip or a grip with more weight and it'll make the club head feel lighter
  5. I have just done exactly the same and finally updated my old DCI's to the AP2 716 and yes they are a heavier club head.

Hi, I can't speak for the old DCI's, but I do play the 714 AP2's and I have played all sorts of older clubs from days as a kid.

I suspect that it is the swing weight. And, that is exactly what I like about my 714 AP2s. I like knowing where the club head is when I come into the impact zone -- it helps me be more consistent in releasing the club. Of course, not that I am PGA Pro consistent -- but more consistent than where I had been previously with my older equipment. :)
  7. I specify my swing weights when ordering mine since I order longer clubs. The stock swing weight is light around D2 or so...thus I would have them swing weighted at your local golf store that you purchased them from.
  8. Yeah, since I didn't get mine new, I didn't get to specify anything. I'm thinking of putting my old Rifle FCM 6.0 shafts on there, though I think they're only fractionally lighter.

I will say that the heavier club head (if it is the club head and not just swing weight) forced me to have a more relaxed grip which I think helps with a more ferocious/free release, but it took a while to get the swing of it on the range.
