I currently play a 910 D2 set at std lie & 8.75 loft with a Diamana Red 44vsl stiff shaft 45". I have hit the 915D2 with the Diamana Red 50 & Blue 60 shafts loved the ball flight & carry/distance . I have always used a 460 head driver. But been thinking maybe a D3 might be a better weight. Has anyone had any issues (visual or swinging, distance etc etc) switching to a 440 like the 915D3 has. The golf shop I usually hit at does not have the D3 at this time as their demo club broke, but I'm thinking I might like the swing weight better than the D2 but the different head size concerns me for some reason. I'm a 16hdcp hit around 240 off the tee with a slight draw. Just curious because I don't paly golf with others that use Titleist equipment to ask.

  2. I have both the 915 D2 and D3, while they are very different at address in terms of shape I have noticed that the D2 is very forgiving while the D3 is meant to shape shots more easily....

Should you decide to go with the 915D2, or D3 for that matter, you can always work with your stores fitter to have the swing weight adjusted to something less than the standard D2/D3 that gives you a good swing weight & ball flight.

I'll add my voice to Chris92009 comment - definite forgiveness advantage with D2 over D3. I actually just switched from D3 to D2 and I am loving the extra confidence on the tee.

As always, the best route is a fitting with a professional that can help you dial it in. Great this Titleist has so many options, you can definitely find a set up that will work for you.

    Good luck on your search!

Stock swing weight is the same for the 915D2 and 915D3, the shaft will make a bit of difference in overall club weight, but as far as swing weight goes they are both D2 swing weight when everything is stock.

I would get fit and make sure you have the right head/shaft combo, but it sounds like you are having pretty good luck with the D2 so you may want to stick with that for a little more forgiveness.

    Hope this helps,

Thanks for all the input, I plan on having a fitting done in 2 weeks with the 2 drivers and compare it to my 910 as well.

Personal choice. D2 may be more forgiving but I love the look of the smaller head of the D3. And being able to work the ball left or right. The fitting will definitely help with your decision

Update: I finally got to compare the D2/D3 side by side. I liked the D2 looks and feel. I felt like I tried to swing the D3 harder being a smaller head. As for distance & shot pattern were very similar with the D2 having a tighter disperse pattern overall. I used a Diamana Red label 50 & Blue 60 stiff with little variance between the two as for carry & total distance. I decided on the D2 915 probably mostly because of looks & a more smoother swing & not wanting to try and get used to the D3 head size. I did get a few drives in the 250's with both clubs which I liked too.

Thanks to everyone for the input it was very helpful.....
