So I went to local golfsmith store and hit these two irons. Standard loft and lie, both with dynamic gold s300. The results are in the attached picture. It's weird that the AP with the offset is pushing to the right, but are the numbers significantly different to make one better than the other for me?

    I'd appreciate any inputs!

  2. Can you blow up the numbers...they are too small for me to read. Thanks

I am not sure how I would do that without not cutting off some of the other numbers. :( thanks for trying to help me tho

The AP2 would be a better fit. The telling number is the sidespin, it is much worse with the MB. All of the other numbers are pretty much the same.

Hi Bosco, ... you seem to be getting some good numbers with the 7-iron (based entirely upon my personal experience with the launch monitors). It does not appear to be any significant difference between the two models.

I do think that if you are looking to put a new set of irons in the bag, then it will probably come down to "feel", which club feels better to you, your confidence in shaping shots that you want/when you want, aesthetics (how it looks at address and how it frames the ball).

I personally am infatuated with the looks of the 716 MBs. I just think that they epitomise what an iron should look like! :-)

Anyway, Bosco, would like to hear what you decide to do or what your eventual conclusions are that you come to.

Changed from AP2 to MB about 6 weeks ago, just spent the last 2 years fading my irons. Changed to the MB's, no hit a draw like I use too and they go further. Apparently it is something to do with my swing speed and the weight in the toe of the AP2's meaning I wasnt rotating the club enough. I'm a 5 handicap and my swing speed with a 6 iron is 109mph. Hope this helps you make a decision, I am so pleased I went back to blades.

Thank you all for your inputs. I guess I will have to hit some more, and see if my mishits suffer more with one over the other, then go with it. And that's an impressive swing speed with 6 iron to go around 109mph. My driver is around that range. :/

I do love the looks of the MBs Dino. Maybe I should go with the MBs if the numbers aren't too significantly different.

Thanks bosco, I've been back playing for 2 1/2 years now after a car accident. Use to be a lot lower handicap before that. Recently clocked up 124 mph with my 915 driver. At 44 I can still out hit all the young guns in my club. Just goes to show age is just a number ;)

Looking at the high side spin numbers with the MBs, and given the fact you indicated you were pushing the APs and looking at your swing speed I would suspect you are a mid-handicapper. When you make a decision to purchase an expensive set of clubs you should not let your emotions get the best of you. I would recommend you get the AP2, or even look at the AP1s. Your swing speed is not high enough to compress the ball with the MPs. See a PGA teaching pro to get rid of the right side of the golf course and with the awesome AP1's and AP2's forgiveness you will be on your way to a significant improvement in your game.

    Best Wishes,

    Grindelwald,

have you also tried the CB?

Playing the MB you will have almost no forgiveness, and they are much more difficult to hit on the course than in the shop!
Rather go with the AP2 or try the CB - full blades are for very consistant hitters only!
