So I'll be pulling the trigger this winter on a fitting and a new set of combo's, and my apologies if this has been answered somewhere here before, but right now I play a 2-iron (MB) and I'm going to replace that deuce with a T-MB. My question for people who actually game them is about distance. If I pick up a 3-9 iron, should the T-MB I pick up be a 3 or a 2? I suppose the question is really, what is the difference between the CB 3 and the T-MB 3? Are the T-MB's actually a club longer?

I hit my T-MB 4 iron the same distance that I hit my CB 4 iron. I find the flight to be a bit higher with the T-MB. I have hit the MB 4 iron and when I hit it properly, it goes the same distance as both the T-MB and CB. I am just looking for a little forgiveness, so I use the T-MB.
  3. the distance is slightly farther so be aware but it is not more than a couple yards.

I find the length to be similar to my AP2s. The T-MB lofts are slightly stronger, but the ball gets up higher and it evens out on distance.
  5. I purchased the 716 T-MB 2 iron several months ago. I have had a 2 in my bag for as long as I have played the game, over 50 years. I am 73 now. When I was younger I carried a 1 iron. My first swing with the 2 from the tee was straight as an arrow, 195. I am 6 feet tall, 152 lbs and still have a full should turn so get good club speed. A week later I was fitted for the 3 through 9, PW and Gap which they call W at 50deg. These are without doubt the most stable irons I have ever played. I have always been a MB golfer so these are an incredible iron for me. They replaced my 714 MB's. If the TMB is hit flush it is a pure feel. If not so flush, it has a bit of harshness (they are stainless steel rather than forged) but has very little effect on distance or line. I say truly, these T-MB's will eliminate almost all draw or fade. The tungsten weights apparently do the job. And they are the most beautiful iron I have ever seen. The best compliment I regularly get is in my golfing circle, where I am the oldest, the others are 55-65, the comments are like...".when i grow up I want to hit my irons like you." I hit long, high floaters that stop on the green within 12-18 inches. You can pin hunt anywhere with these babies.
