  1. Hi Team!

I'm looking to get a newer driver this season. I've always played Titleist drivers, woods, hybrids but since we have a new addition to our family (and hopefully a soon to be addition to the Titleiest team) this year a brand new driver is not in the cards for me. Since I'm on a tight budget I can only afford to buy older model drivers and I was looking for some advice on what models you have had success with. Right now I'm sporting a 905R circa 2006 so there's plenty of timeline between then and now. Thanks for the advice!

  2. Not sure what your budget is but you can pick up a used 915 for around 170$. I just recently switched to the 915 from the 910. The 910 can be picked up used for around 70$ and is an awesome driver.

It doesn't matter what model you choose. Fitting will make all the difference. You already know the quality. I've gamed the 2010, 2013, and just bought a 2015. I only changed it because I cracked the face of the 2013. It was a find hair line crack and still went a mile. But I hated knowing that it was cracked. All very similar in specs hit all about the same distance. You can't go wrong as long as it fits you!

    Ben,

I currently am using a 10.5 deg 913 which I really love. In my garage I have a 909 10.5 deg which I hit very well also. I hit both of these drivers about the same distance but I found the 913 to be more a little more forgiving. The 913 is adjustable for lie angle and loft with their surefit hosel. The 909 is still a very good club. If you could pick up either one of these in good condition I don't think you would be disappointed.

    Best Wishes,

    Hello,

I have been playing Titleist drivers for some time now. I have owned the 913D2 , 915D2 and just recently purchased all new 917 woods you really can't go wrong with any of them. I recommend trying to work with a fitter and get as close as possible to the correct shaft what ever you decide. I personally liked all three but was blown away by the new 917D2 that I was fitted for at a Titleist Thursday event. I got 20 more yards of carry just by getting the right shaft. And to me as I get older and older I need all the distance i can get really changed the way I approach a hole now, Those par 5's on the old home course I can now reach most of the time in 2. Good luck in finding a new big stick.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family what an exciting time for you.
I still have my trusted 910D2 in the bag, in fact it is the only driver I have at the moment. I have tried most OEM offerings out there but I always come back to my 910D2. It is a great driver and a fairway finder for me. That being said, I would definitely look out for a 910D2 or D3 however they can be a bit challenging to find as I suspect a lot of folks hang on to them as well. Also definitely have a look out for the 913 and 915 offerings which are also solid drivers.
You never know you may get lucky and snag a great deal on a 917!
  7. Hey Team! Wow I'm blown away with how fast you guys responded. Thank you so much for your advice and also thank you for congrats on the little one. She's gunna be swinging in no time and I've already started looking for clubs for her. Just have to wait until she understands that a pure strike can only be done to a ball and not my face or body. I am planning on getting fitted for the driver thanks to the advice from all of you. And hopefully I can get something in the 150-170 range. I really appreciate the postings. Thanks again!
  8. 905R was one of my all-time favorites with the speeder shaft. I would look at the 910 D2 or D3. Still has the adjustable hosel that started it all...and I saw very little difference between the 910 & 913. I started with the 915 series this year...the ARC makes a difference but still kind of spendy. I'm sure you could find a 910 on EBay for less than a hundred....and be very pleased!!! Best of luck with the new addition...rest up now!!!

I played a 905R until the 913 came out. Noticed a huge jump there.

915 didn't offer an significant improvement for me but the 917 is already in my bag.

My advice? Pick up a 913 D2 or D3 (depending on your preference). You'll even have change left over!

If you like your current driver, why not wait a year and continue to set some money aside for a new one? Your current driver doesn't have significant resale value, so waiting a year won't hurt that. I moved from a 913 to a 917, and there is a vast improvement in forgiveness. The other improved area is shaft which have fewer restrictions on development. Getting the right combination of loft, draw bias, and shaft characteristics got me 20 yards. Buying a quality used driver does limit your ability to get the right combination, since you can't easily try more than 1-2 combinations at a time. I'm assuming your current driver is still playable - naturally that is a game changer.
  11. Thanks Team! I think that I'm going in the direction of Dan's thinking. Going to save the dough and keep using what I have. Work on my for and swing and then the newer tech will really pay off. Thanks again!
