  1. Well after posting about looking for a driver I have committed to a new one. 915D3 9.5 Degree Aldila Rogue Silver 60 Stiff.

It was an pre round impulse buy on Friday. New club for £199. On the round on that day I kept it in A1 and it seemed okay but was difficult to gage.

On Sunday at my home club I changed the setting to A2. Club looked awesome at address and it felt solid all day and seemed more forgiving than the 909D2. The flight was a bit lower which was something I was looking for. Overall quite a good first hit out then?

However. It doesn't seem to be any longer than my 909D2, this was highlighted by being out driven by my friend all day and when I used his old Taylor Made Burner I knocked it 15 yards past my 915D3 drive.

So overall, I'm happy with the feel and look of the club. However slight pang of remorse as I would have liked to see a few extra yards being achieved when compared to my 10 year old 909D2 driver. Particularly as my friend who is waiting for delivery of a new M1 driver said he would have sold me his old driver for £50.

Well sure the relationship between me and the 915D3 will develop over the coming weeks. One thing I do need to have done is have it re gripped. My grips are thicker than the stock one.

  2. B, I cannot emphasis enough how important getting custom fit is. I will bet good money that is where you are seeing some distance loss. After being fitted for my 915 D3, I cannot wait for thursday to try the new 917 because I've come to learn how important getting custom fit is.

  3. I too played with my newish 915D2 this weekend and love it! I've had a 909F2 for several years and always had great success with it and wanted to replace my png Anser driver this year. Gained about 10-15 yards and have a lot of confidence in hitting the fairway. Now i just need to get some irons....#TT
