I got rained on yesterday and while drying off my clubs, I noticed what the golf shop has confirmed is a crack in the shaft of my 907 D2 driver. Instead of reshafting it, I'm thinking about just replacing the club and keeping the 907 head as a paper weight / pen holder. I have a big desk :-)
I want to know what market the 3 different 909 drivers are supposed to be applied to. Of the pros who haven't already gone to the 910 series, it seems all of them who are using 909 series drivers are using the D2 or D3... What about the Comp? Where's it supposed to fit in? Who is it marketed to? BTW - I couldn't believe some of the pros were still using 905 series drivers!
I'm curious which model might be best for me.
I'm 61, 6'7" tall, still with reasonable flexibility in this old body. I shoot on either side of 80 pretty consistently, 77-83 range mostly. I wouldn't tell you that my ego isn't bruised as I've lost yardage while growing older, having once been scratch and played on my college golf team.
My swing speed with a driver ranges between 90-95 mph. I can stretch to 100 with effort, but it's not worth the loss of control. My ball speed is about 140 mph and my typical carry is about 220-230 yards. Those figures are based on readings from my Radar device... handy gadget...
I don't know what my spin rate is. I typically hit my 907 D2 10.5* driver what I consider to be mid height, probably towards low and I usually play a pretty well controlled fade, though I can move it right to left if I have to. The draw just isn't as accurate a shot for me.
So, between the D2, D3 or Comp, can someone please tell me which might be best directed at my physical makeup and type?
Thanks,
Dennis
