New irons ordered... Team Titleist recognition?

  1. This question is for those who work for Titleist, or have experience ordering as a Team Titleist member:

I just ordered a new set of irons through my local golf shop (Plaza Golf, Torrance, CA). This is my first new set of irons in 15+ years. The shop directly calls in the order to a Titleist rep, and state this is for their shop.

Is there any benefit to informing the rep know the order is for a Team Titleist member? Swag, thank you card, invite to future event, etc.?

I think there could be tremendous value added by taking care of Team Titleist members who order new equipment as a way of rewarding brand loyalty. Thoughts?

Once you receive your irons make sure to update your profile.

  3. I'm going to say "no". Maybe your club will give you something, but one has to think that your club has more than one member and that other members are buying new equipment as well.

All events are open to all Team Titleist members. You just have to be first to sign up - before the other thousand plus members sign up.

Be happy you were able to use your club discount on new clubs, you could have paid full retail like the rest of us that don't belong to a club.
  4. As far as I know, there is no benefit to informing them you're a member. The best/only way to get swag, invites to events, etc. is to stay active on the board and keep your information (ie. what's in your bag) up to date.

My opinion is if you're brand loyal you're brand loyal. Anything if anything is sent or given to you when purchasing something that you're brand loyal with is an added and should be unexpected bonus. Joining Team Titleist doesn't mean you're suppose to get stuff. It's all about the community and sharing your passion for the sport and brand. Everyone that is a part of Team Titleist gets the opportunity to attend future events. Swag, thank you cards etc are all extra and should not be an expected thing. I've gotten a new set (usually full set from Driver to Wedges every 3-4 years) and never expect anything from Titleist from my purchase. I know people that get a new set of irons almost every new release and they don't get anything either. If you're truly brand loyal...you represent the brand because your trust it, not because you get free stuff.

No benefit from telling them you are a TT member. I doubt that your shop even talked to the local rep, they just went online and placed the order or called the order in over the phone.....

I never give orders to our rep, faster to place them myself.

Andrew, congrats on your new set. I'm sure you are going to love them. Look forward to seeing them when you join us at Maderas. As for Titleist being able to react to every TT member, and everyone buying a set of irons or a driver that claims to be a TT member, it would be a huge administrative process to pull off. There are thousands of people that sign up for TT but are not active participants in the forums or events. It would be hard to figure out what purchases go to what people and do anything on the front end. TT is not really about getting stuff. It's about helping others, interacting with fellow TT members, and sharing experiences. Let's talk at Maderas and see if participating in that event doesn't give you a different perspective. See you soon!

I think the reward is playing Titleist products....

In all my years of buying and playing Titleist, I've never known that it would make any difference to mention that you are a Team Titleist member.

I totally rebuilt my setup 6 years ago which included woods, irons, wedges, golf bag and putter. The club that I dealt with at that time did not even over me a sleeve of ProV's....

The club that I now deal with provides great prices and service; which is key.

  9. Good points everyone. My question was tied more towards infusing brand loyalty into purchases, and not for my own personal benefit. In other words, can the benefit of ties between TT member derived sales help spark additional brand growth? And can it be enhanced through the obvious popularity between TT branded tags, hats, etc.? Today I do not see a direct link between the two. And, to Dale’s point, it would be a challenge to handle administratively.

I value this forum, the great comraderie in the TT community, and the quality equipment.
  10. I don't think Titleist would see any measurable growth through rewarding TT members with recognition or swag accompanying purchases. It's free to sign up, so it wouldn't take long for everyone making a Titleist purchase to sign up prior to buying. I think that the majority of us (TT members) buy Titleist gear whether we'd get some type of swag or recognition out of it or not.

To your point about the obvious popularity of TT branded items - It's only popular due to the rarity of items. People charge $60 for a bag tag because they're not necessarily easy to come by. If Titleist made TT gear available to purchase anytime, the popularity wouldn't be what it is now (not including among actual TT members active on the board and such).

With regards to being tied more towards infusing brand loyalty into purchases, I would think that would be more of a pay for membership type thing which could push away the free for nothing swag people?

There are many people, including myself, who have been playing Titleist equipment for many years, long before there was a Team Titleist. I started with Titleist golf balls over 30 years ago, then a Bullseye flange putter which I still have and on and on from there (Not to mention tons of Foot Joy products including my first rain suit). I never expected anything in return and was always grateful for the times I did receive some swag. It's a great site and I enjoy the back and forth.
