Fake AP2 718's

    I recently attempted to upgrade my AP2 714's to a "new" set of AP2 718's, purchased locally off of FB Marketplace. I know the guy I bought the clubs from, so I thought I was safe. Upon receiving the clubs I was surprised with the material quality and some finishes, so I started to compare to a friends set of AP2 718's. I'm 99% sure my set is counterfeit.

    The positive is that the guy said he would refund me if I could provide some proof that they are not authentic. Hoping the Titleist community can offer some assistance, or provide a recommendation to help me get my money back.

    My areas of concern: Forged stamp looks etched, Titleist logo too big, AP2 logo wonky, iron number on sole looks wonky, face grooves look inconsistent. Not Titleist quality in my experience. What do you all think?

    The club looks horrible. The etchings and paintfill are terrible. See if you can get an actual 718 AP2 for comparison. Remind this guy that the making and distribution of counterfeit golf equipment is a federal offense, as they are protected by US trade and patent laws. His equipment should be seized and he should face criminal charges. When are people going to learn to buy golf equipment from an AUTHURIZED GOLF RETAILER!

    I agree it's not even close. I know he didn't make the clubs, and I've asked him where he bought from as I would upload that info to Titleist's Counterfeit Product Notice.

    I've been wanting a set of the 718's for a while but couldn't find any in good enough shape to justify the purchase. I suppose when I should know better, when something seems too good to be true...

    Hopefully this serves as a warning to others to look more closely prior to purchase.
