    Hi all,

I just had a few questions regarding 910 F and Fd.  Has anyone tried hitting the Fd off the deck and had trouble?  I have 980F so I am guessing I'd be more comfortable with F but you never know.

Also, I play with Proforce V2 76 X stiff on my driver and I am thinking about getting the same Proforce V2 on the fairway wood.  But the question is should I get heavier shaft?  And if I trim 1 inch from the driver shaft to fit into the fairway wood, wouldn't it make the shaft stiffer?  Please let me know!

    Cheers

Some players may not prefer the Fd off the deck because it's almost like a baby driver.  But you're right...never know until you test it yourself!

I would recommend playing the V2 85 in your 3W at a normal length.   I play it in mine!

If you were to trim a 76 gram driver shaft down to 3W length on the grip side, it would play just slightly stiffer.  If you were to trim it from the tip side...it gets really stiff.  I'd be afraid the the setup would be too light.

So if I were to get 76gram shaft and cut it from the grip side, should I cut from stiff or x-stiff?

I know you are in dripping springs (I live in Austin) so stay warm and safe!

Actually, the Studio is in Spicewood!  We wrapped up around 3pm on Monday and plan to reopen tomorrow after the frost delay!

As far as the shafts go, you should stay with an X if your driver is X.  Will play pretty close to the same as your driver, just much lighter.

Ryan-  what has been the feedback u have heard about the Fd off the deck.. i hit them both, while it is Jan in MN i put some decent swings on it off the simulator deck... when i bought it i compared to my other brand 3W that i was playing and was the same size head.. i just have a slightly heavier shaft now with the PX...  what have u heard about  Fd off deck?

In my opinion, the Fd is more of a baby driver for players that have a few tight tee shots or short par 4s on their home course.  It's more of a specialty club.  The regular 910f's, even the 13.5, are pretty effective off the ground and tee shots.

    Here's something I don't understand

Driver shaft is longer than fw, typically the ball is higher off the ground for driver.

Driver lie angle 58.5* fw lie angle 57*(910's)

    907D1 59* 906F2 57*

Ah...I haven't thought about your question.  Very nice.

I do know that the 907D1 (the triangle driver) was a little more upright than normal.  At the time, it seemed like that driver had a bias to the right on tour.  So they made it a smidge more upright for control.

I suspect that the lie angle is still slightly more upright to help prevent the standard miss:  the slice.

Maybe Cathi or Nick have some thoughts on this.

It does seem odd to me that the club designed to hit the ball while held off the ground, and having the longest shaft, would have the most upright lie angle.

But, apparently, there is something right about it.

Played on Super Bowl Sunday for the first time with the FD.  No problem at all hitting it off the deck on tight lies.  Ball flight was great and the carry was very well welcomed.  Played a different brand name 3 wood for the past couple of years and the new FD gained 18 to 20 yds with same loft, shaft at 82 grams vs 65 grams on old 3 wood.  I tried both the F and FD on the simulator and feed back was instant for me that the FD felt more solid on impact.
