I address this question to a staff representative or any one having insight into this question.

I have a hybrid that is 4/5 years old that has a 14 degree loft.  I am interested in upgrading my equipment and have been unable to find any manufacturer with a hybrid that comes even close to this loft.

My reason for wanting such a club is very simple. I can hit it.  three woods give me a problem, yet I hit this hybrid as far as my three wood with consistency.

The hybrids presently being produced are to replace a 5 or 4 or 3 or 2 iron.  Originally they were produced to assist golfers who had problems with their long irons, 5-4-3 woods.  What has changed.  The average golfer still needs help/forgiveness with these clubs and the answer then and now is still a wide selection of hybrids.

    I don't have any insight.

    But I would like a 21* fw, that is what I consider a 5w(especially using a 15.5* 3w), that's why I asked if Titleist made a 21* 980F.

I do have a 12* hybrid with a steel shaft for when my woods get bad, haven't used it for some time now. I can hit it off the tee, about 6ft high about 200y, then roll and roll and roll, great for some of our windy days, just hadn't thought about it until now.

I've set it out so I will see it and remember it for the windy days to come.

The hybrid invention is probably why they don't make higher lofted fw's.

I have never preferred a hybrid over an iron, but when my fw aren't playing well I have switched to low lofted hybrids, I certainly do think low lofted hybrids are a good idea.

  3. is it the smaller head you like or the degree of loft? 14 degrees is 14 degrees...get a 14 degree fwy wood and swing away!!

Would you say the same thing about someone wanting to change a 21* iron for a 21* hybrid?

A hybrid having a longer shaft than an iron, but a shorter shaft than a wood, also a flatter lie angle than an iron but more upright than a wood. Some people have a problem hitting irons but hit their woods well, so they prefer hybrid over irons. Some people prefer irons over woods so they prefer hybrids over woods.

  5. I was simply saying you have grown accustomed to the look and feel of the hybrid. I agree a longer shaft and other details do make a difference. good luck with your search

Titleist has a 15* 909H version last year however it was a very low demand club and with the sales I don't think they saw it cost effective to go ahead and make another one this year.

Also for hybrids that are that low of loft the have been some testing done that is in line with long irons for the normal person where the lower the loft they don't see a great enough distance gap. Therefore fairway woods with slightly longer shafts seem to fit in players bags better. From testing and fittings that I have done with amateur golfers the main problem they have with fairway woods and longer hybrids is they do not hit these clubs with a downward blow they try to pick the ball and help it into the air.

I'm no club manufacturer but im guessing that there is not really enuff of a demand to produce one of these clubs. The production cost probably far out margines the return in sales. And im sure a return on some good quality lessons would get you away from needing or wanting a 14 degree hybrid.. just my thoughts. I always advicate lessons.
