I just bought a LH Studio Stainless Newport 2.5 the other day and I decided to try to do the paint fill myself. I was very surprised how easy it was to do. My putter came with the orange Studio Design grip. I am a big Florida Gators fan so I decided to go with blue and orange for the paint fill. It is easy to do and easy to undo as well. I used an acrylic paint set from testors. Anybody else out there customize their Scotty's at home? I did the Titleist logo on the face in black. Keep in mind this is a Studio Stainless and didn't have any paint fill before (except for the "o" in "Cameron") and that is why it is easy to undo. I found a couple of tutorial articles explaining how to do it yourself. These photos were taken on my phone and don't look nearly as good as the putter actually does.

  2. Looks great JD!

I had this Studio Select done at the custom shop (wanted to add the extra sight lines for a different look)...as always the results were fantastic!

These too are phone pics, like you stated, the actual product looks so much cleaner.

    Thanks for sharing Nick!

I am glad that Scotty has the custom shop. I can certainly see myself taking advantage of it in the future.

Did mine at home, as said it is easy to do if you are that way inclined and easy to change for a new flavor

I've had my putter done at the shop, but also learned to do my own modifications....

Now that you know how, the irons are next right?

I did all my clubs, including my driver, fairways, and hybrids with a Carolina Blue paintfill to match my Scotty.

So after looking at other SC putters, I decided to change the crown from blue to orange. It seems that on other putters, the crown was the same color as "Cameron". I like it a little better. I might even change the sight line to blue. Now my 11yr old son wants me to change the colors on his Wilson putter. Guess what we will be doing after church tonight??

Gotta love DIY paint!  This was my first project.  I did my wedges and some other putters too.  It's a great thing to keep you sane in the winter.

    Pretty sweet Josh!

Since I got my LH Studio Stainless Newport 2.5 we received over two feet of snow. It is all melted now but the ground is still way too wet to play. I have had to practice my putting on my carpet in the house. I am really looking forward to taking this putter to the course very soon!! I might just spend the whole day on the putting green!!

Well done men!  I sent mine to Scotty and it came out great.  I was hesitant to do it myself, so it went back to the master.  Took about 3 weeks to complete (also had some stamping done - Scotty Custom Shop logo on the face).  They were excellent about keeping me informed of the status and shipping info.

My recommendation...If you are the least bit hesitant to do it yourself, send it back.  You will not be disappointed.  There are lots of other options available at the Custom Shop (grips, weights, stamps, headcovers, length and lie alterations, etc), so it is worth taking a look!

    Aaron,

Yes, I used the acrylic model paint from Testor's and it worked great. I strongly recommend toothpicks because they won't scratch the metal. There are a couple articles online as far as a step by step process. Just google "How to customize your Scotty Cameron putter" and you will find them.

Hope you have as much fun doing it as I did!!

Yes it's model paint.  I use Testors, but any Acrylic paint will work.  Just make sure you that remove the old paint first, and let the new point dry before you clean it up.  Don't worry about staying within the lines, acetone will fix any mistakes you make.  Have fun with it.

You're very welcome Aaron.  You should check out cameroncollector.com and look up the DIY Paintfill section.  There's tons of awesome paint jobs on there.  Feel free to send me a message if you need help.  Good luck and I look forward to your pics.
