Rumor has it the heavier the hybrid (or any Wood) the tougher it is to get the ball out of fairly deep rough. Is this true, if so how does the new 910 hybrids perform in the rough?

I think the lighter the club the faster the swingspeed and that makes it easier to get it out of the rough. If you are looking to dig it out of the rough with a fairway I suggest you get a light shaft.

I would think the loft is more a factor than the weight. Just a guess

Talking with our tour rep - he agreed with Deno that loft is more of a factor than weight, but in general, the heavier weight will help it get through the resistance of the grass.
Alright... You've all answered my question. I'm refering to the second cut. Anything that has to do with fescue or deep thick rough (Bethpage Black) I would use a wedge or an 8 iron (the most). I'm planing on getting the 24deg & 19 deg hybrids. I was just wondering if I would have a tough time getting the ball out of the 2nd cut...!
By the way, another manufacturer supposedly makes the best hybrid in golf... I don't think so. Keep up the good work Titleist!
Hi Cathy
I REALLY feel good that a Titleist Tour Rep agreed with me. WOW!!
Always a pleasure

Danny,
Should you really be hitting a hybrid out of fairly deep rough?
Chris T
Danny I agee with Chris M, in my experience it's really a high risk shot unless you have something approaching 27 deg of loft. Even then at best I reckon its 50/50, plus you really can hurt yourself.

Cathi has it, heavier is better for rough, Deno has it, loft has more to do with it. Hale Irwin's book, he says never use anything less lofted than a 5 iron nor more lofted than an 8 iron. Assuming he is talking about actual rough, I've seen rough you could use any club desired.

Hybrids are so much easier to maneuver from the rough than a 3 or 4 iron. Off the tee, from the short grass, or in the sand I hit my irons about the same as my Hybrid, but the rough rarely eats up my hybrid... I'm not sure why, but the rough is the main reason they H clubs stay in my bag.
I went ahead I bought the 19Deg 910 Hybrid. I couldn't resist. The club just felt to freakin' good. All of the other hybrids did not come close. So, I'm just about done with my full set of Titleist clubs. Just need the 3Metal and I'm still contemplating getting Scotty... It's just too much money.
