I have just been fitted for Titleist AP2 Irons and I have been wondering the difference between the KBS shaft and the standard Dynamic gold shaft.

As far as I know, KBS is a better shaft and more expensive shaft but when I was hitting KBS and the Dynamic Gold shafts, I really could not feel the difference.

Anyone know what the difference between the two shafts are? It would help a lot.

    Thanks!

I wouldn't get hung up on the more expensive aspect.  The better shaft is the one that performs the best for you.

Typically, most players will hit the KBS shafts a little higher. The flex point in the KBS shafts is a little lower than Dynamic Gold's and they are a little lighter in weight as well.  Typically you'll see the PGA Pro's who hit the ball lower go with the KBS shafts and the high ball hitters choose the Dynamic Gold's.

  5. RC,

If im having problems with putts skipping and jumping the first few feet, that would be a loft problem correct? Im currently using a SC Newport Midslant. Standard specs for loft (4 degrees) and lie 71. I've tried other putters and don't seem to have the same problem. Would like to see if there are any options for maybe a tweak or two too the putter. Thanks

There could be a loft problem. You should definitely have the loft and lie checked...Camerons are very soft and tend to move ever so slightly.  Once we have a baseline, have a pro watch you at address and impact to monitor contact.  He may even have the high speed cameras like we do to monitor impact conditions.

Skipping could be caused by either having too much loft or too little loft.  So depending upon your hand position, you may be forward pressing or reverse pressing and we would need to taylor the loft to match your style.

Sometimes the lie is too upright as well and the toe of the putter jumps off the ground.  This affects solid contact.

I would go to the Ralph Maltby web site and check the playabilty factors of both shafts The DG is a heavier shaft 130 G vs 120 G of the KBS
