  1. I seem to be overfading the ball a bit and was wondering if adding a heavier weight (maybe 9 or 12 grams) in the port will help me square the face more effectively than switching to a more draw-biased setting like B-2? I tried changing the setting before and started hitting hooks (the miss I'm trying to avoid most)...thanks in advance for any feedback!

I would not expect a heavier weight to help you square the face.  What's the setting before you switched to B-2?

  3. I had it set to the standard A-1

Ok.  Very nice, sounds like we are very close in my mind.

I would experiment with D-4 and C-2 and let us know what happens.

  5. Thanks Ryan for that helpful info; I'll try that and report back. I'm guessing that going up in loft squares the face a bit? I'm gaming a 9.5 head with an Aldila 80x and still launching it higher than preferred. As you can probably gather I'm a product of no proper fitting; basically tried the club, loved it and ordered it--not the smartest, I know. But I'm hoping to really get dialed in the next few days. Thanks again!

That's ok.  We can still tune it...the best engineered golf club ever has 16 options in one driver!  Increase loft can square the face a little easier, but it also increases lift.  So, maybe try the C-2 setting.

  7. Went to the range today with with my 910 D3 and wrench in hand. First off, I HIGHLY recommend getting fitted, trust me...it just seems a lot easier to have a fitter tune this thing for you than taking the LONG way. It's so easy to get lost with all the possible settings. I've been reading countless forum postings looking for help--very glad I decided to post. Secondly and most importantly, thank you to Ryan Crysler for his helpful feedback; you were right on with recommending those two settings (D-4 & C-2).

Started by hitting 20 balls with the standard A-1 setting to just make sure that it's the one I hate. Same result, basically overfading to another zip code. Had to work really hard to keep them in the center. Started thinking maybe this driver is just outta my league. But I hit it so well at the demo, figured I just have to tune it.

Next, D-4...immediately noticed a difference in fade reduction, but just too high of a trajectory and almost no roll. Hit another 20 in this setting just to boost my confidence, it was so pleasant to see a nice slight fade (what I'm looking for, just a little lower).

Best for last...set it to C-2 and I'm not one to exaggerate, but it was perfect for me, basically the exact trajectory and flight that I was looking for. Slight left to right and some decent roll. Don't know what my spin and launch numbers are, but man alive, the ball is sailing away.  I've never had problems hitting it far (not bragging) but I've been having to play my second shots from some RIDICULOUS spots and O.B. a lil' too often. My buddies just chuckled when they saw me with a new driver--can't wait to slay them, lol! I think I'm gonna be hitting from the short grass a lot more going forward.

Switched back from C-2 to A-1 to D-4 again to confirm, hit 10 with each, same result--C-2's the one. Thanks again, RC...your suggestions were much appreciated, more than you know, bud.

Awesome news!  Glad you got it worked out.  Good thing Ryan runs around here helping all of us out.

I just got fit for the same driver (D3 but with the Ahina tipped .5 inch).  We messed around with the same settings until we found one that I liked.  My big miss is like yours, high and right and going further right.  We went to D4 and toyed with B2 to get me turning it over witha bout a 5 yard draw.  Gotta love.

    Hope you enjoy it.

  9. Thanks Brent, good to hear another success story. So you ended up with B-2  as well? First thing I noticed was a fairly square  face at address...for me it definitely inspired confidence, especially on the takeaway--was nice to see the face stay that way so I can let my swing path dictate my flight. Enjoy your D3 man!

Pedro!  You are the man.  Thank Titleist R&D and Chris McGinley in a few days on the live webcast!  They give guys like me the tools you need to perform the best.

  11. Hey RC, will definitely keep an eye out for that webcast and send a shoutout. Played a round today with the new setting--money! Hit 12 fairways and my misses weren't as severe as before. Didn't score as well I should've hitting that number of fairways mainly because I kept missing greens.  Think I forgot how to hit irons because I hit so many drives at the range the day before. I can work that though. Thanks again!

Just  from theory: what will change when adding more weight to the head? i am interested because when I was fitted the club shaft combination just felt perfect.Felt the weight, felt the shaft whipping after I hit the ball. After the club arrived it does not feel the same. What standard weight is in the head for fitting?

  13. As far as I know, It'll change the swingweight and overall feel of the club. My D3 head shipped with a 7gm weight in it. You can use the same torque wrench used to adjust the hosel setting to unscrew the weight out and find out which one you have. There's a kit that can be purchased separately, comes with 2, 5, 7, 9 & 12g ( I think)  weights in it. I'm gonna buy just to fiddle and see what happens. I love the way it is now after RC helped me with some tuning, but it's hard to feel where the head is in my backswing. I think this is due to the fact that I'm using a heavier shaft and am hoping a 9g or 12g weight would help with that.
