Living in Ohio, and due to a back injury I haven't been able to swing or play since last September. I am much better now and am able to swing. My local fitter has this weekend open for fitting. They have a launch monitor and you will be hitting inside into a net. Should I wait to get fitted untill we can do an outdoor fitting and I am able to have played a few times or get a fitting when I haven't swung a club for several months? I currently have a 909 D2 with 9.5 loft and VooDoo shaft along with six handicap. Thanks.

    Dave,

Realistically, do you want to buy a driver now when you really haven't had time to find out how your swing is? I've had a bad back for 40 years (am 59) and have gotten used to it, but I live in Florida where we have play year round. A new driver is an investment in 2 different ways, the money invested in the club, and the investment to try to improve your game. I'd first hit the range for 4-5 days per week for a couple weeks to find out how your back holds up and see if it affects your swing and game. Then I'd play at least 5 rounds to see where you're at with your back and lay off. Then, once you're satisfied with yourself, seek a club fitting. Luckily Titleist has more than most other companies and should be easy to find.

Worst thing in the world would be to go to this clubfitting, buy a driver and then your back injury takes you out. Go to the fitting and get some info. Hit some balls with your clubs to get warmed up. Try the different types for a few swings each, then take that info and sit on it until you find out what your needs or wants  may be.

I agree, I would wait until you have time to shake off the winter rust and groove your swing a little bit.  Unfortunately, this weather in the midwest doesn't seem to be letting up.  At least I see the sun today!!!

Be sure and get a 'real' fitting. My local pro looked at me and said here take the D2 with reg shaft Kal'i which by the way is way watered down from the OEM model.

From a fitting standpoint, it's much more fun and "scientific" to be fit outdoors.  It's real time conditions, you'll have a greater appreciation of feel, and most of all, you'll see the difference in ball flight.

Ryan, I always enjoy hearing what your thoughts are. I will wait till I can be fitted outdoors and see the ball flight and the feel of the 910. Thanks, Dave
